Betty Fitzgerald

Betty E. Fitzgerald was unexpectedly called home to the House of her Lord on July 14, 2018. She passed away quietly at the Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Betty was born December 27, 1955 in Washington Co, TN. She was considered an Angel by many due to her Christianity pursuits, and was blessed tremendously throughout her day to day life. Along the way she worked as a Supervisor with Corporal Cleaning in addition to assisting the unemployed in finding work. She was an active church member at New Zion Faith Center in Johnson City, TN and was deemed more like family. She left every person she ever encountered with their heart smiling. Her energy and spirit was so contagious that if you were in her presence you would have no other choice but to feel the gratitude and gratefulness of life. Regardless of your religion, if you knew Betty then you knew there was a God. She was the definition of God's foot solider here on earth. She was family orientated and believed in the morals and values of sticking together. She never bit her tongue and would tell whomever the truth, even if it was tough love but much needed love, nonetheless. She always fought for what she believed in and once her mind was made up, nothing could change or stop her. She was definitely the matriarchy of not only her family but of her friends as well. She had a motherly touch that would gravitate anyone towards her seeking love. Betty never took a day off of work, even if she was not feeling well. She was the most ambitious motivational inspiring woman! If you ever had a long day and contemplated giving up, Betty was the prime example of inspiration. As if she was battery operated, she never gave up on anything and operated like a robot. She worked until she couldn't work anymore. She fought until she couldn't fight anymore. Her work here on earth physically may be done but as God's angel she will always be watching over us all! Betty Elizabeth Fitzgerald is preceded in death by her parents Emma Fitzgerald and Glenn Gillespie, Sister Verna Lee Vaughn, Aunt Nehemiah Blanton and the Blanton Uncles. She is survived by son's Glenn Fitzgerald and Edward Stafford; daughter Deja Colbert; brothers Lynn Fitzgerald, Herman Fitzgerald and Alfred Fitzgerald; sister Sarah Ann Birchette; Grandsons Julian Fitzgerald, Sevon Stafford, Adonis Fitzgerald and O'zias Williams; Granddaughters Aviyonna Stafford and the Twins; Nieces Valerie, Megan, Shayla, Toni and Torrie; Nephews Patrick and Desmond; along with special Family Friend William Banner and numerous cousins, great nephews, nieces and friends. Betty will truly be missed! Fly high and Rest in Peace Sweet Angel! Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday July 21, 2018 at the New Zion Faith Center in Johnson City, TN. The Family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Washington County Memory Gardens.
