Mr. Shadiyah Cecil Murphy

On January 29, 1981, Shadiyah Cecil Murphy was welcomed by Pilar Zippora Garcia and the late Ronald B. Murphy in Johnson City, TN. He was born on his mother’s birthday looking just like his father. He would forever be known as Pilar’s and Ronnie’s twins. On Monday, September 6, 2022 at the age of 41, Shadiyah passed away unexpectedly. Shadiyah had a heart of gold. He gifted the world with his beautiful soul, infectious smile, helping hands and countless laughs. Shadiyah’s legacy was love, real love, selfless love, the kind of love you feel deep in your spirit; he was one of a kind. The meaning of Shadiyah’s name is Almighty God. He embodied the spirit of God. God is love. Shadiyah loved and was loved by so many. He was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a fixture of the congregation and used his many talents to assist officers and members alike. Shadiyah loved helping people and he always did it with a smile. Shadiyah was a graduate of Science Hill High school and earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Tennessee. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Shadiyah had lifelong friends who were more like brothers with whom he shared unbreakable bonds of support and lasting memories. Shadiyah is a huge fan of UNC basketball (so don’t mention Duke) and the Buffalo Bills. He was an avid fantasy footballer who often held the fantasy football league belt. We appreciate all the special friends who added so much love to his life. He loved you all, CT for life. Shadiyah loved his work. As a healthcare professional with Enhance Support Services he gave his patients compassionate care and they adored him. He was known affectionately as “Diyah,” and was requested specifically for his kindness and genuine concern. Shadiyah touched many lives in his 41 years. He dearly loved God, his family, friends, clients and his dogs. He had a heart of gold and saw good in everyone he met. He touched so many lives through his kindness and willingness to always help others. He was happy and lit up any room he entered with his contagious smile that drew people together. Shadiyah was preceded in death by his Father Ronald B. Murphy, Aunt Joan Mutts; Grandparents: Anna Delores and Robert Murphy, Ramona and Heriberto Garcia; and his beloved dog, Butter. Shadiyah is survived by his mother, Pilar Zippora Garcia; Sister Yachannah Murphy Galloway (Shon); Brother Yirayah Garcia; Sister Ta’Avdiyah Garcia; Sister Ne’Ermanyah “Mony” Garcia-Dickson (Chris); Sister Ayisha Bradley; Dog Snoop; Nieces and Nephews: Akeyla, Emanyae, Rahleik, Tyrese, Aliyanna, Yabre, Markeis, Trevor, Zoe, Zyair, Avye and Amiyah; Great Niece and Nephews; Kassian, Asaud, Azariya and Elias; He also leaves to mourn his Aunt Sandra Jackson (Douglas); Uncle James Murphy (Libby); Regina Murphy and Aunt Angela Murphy-Miller (Keith). A host of first cousins who were like siblings, Godfather Lynn White (Karen) and Goddaughter Kalyna Young.
