Mr. William L. Goddard

Mr. William Leslie Goddard Jr. was born August 8, 1941, to Mr. William and Mrs. Ruth S. Young Goddard, Johnson City, Tennessee. Mr. Goddard passed away from earth to glory on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Lakebridge Healthcare Center, Johnson City, Tennessee. Mr. Goddard was a Star Athlete for Langston High School, where he received many scholarship offers, and went on to excel while playing College Basketball for Volusia County Community College in Daytona Beach, FL. He received several accolades and was named player of the year. Mr. Goddard worked for General Mills in Johnson City, TN, for several years. Mr. Goddard is preceded in death by his father, William Goddard Sr.; mother, Ruth S. Young Goddard; and sister, Annetta Sue Goddard. To cherish his memory, he leaves his daughter, Thomasina Goddard-Alexander (fiancé/son in love, Alton Wynn); daughter in love, Cynthia Washington-Anderson; siblings, Veral Jean Neal (Robert) of Johnson City, TN, Billie Evans of Jonesborough, TN, Robert Goddard (Lynn), both of Johnson City, TN, Frank M. Goddard of Leavenworth, KS, Linda Treadwell of Knoxville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The family would like to recognize the staff of Lakebridge Healthcare Center in Johnson City, TN., for their love and care of Mr. Goddard, where his nephew, Pastor Alan Evans, is Chaplain. So many people adored and spoke highly of Mr. Goddard at Lakebridge, and we want to give them special thanks for their care and concern. We appreciate special friends and relatives, Veral Jean and Bob Neal, Minister Wjualana Benson, Jordan Carson, Jackie Bowers, and Shelly Keeble, for their love and support. Special acknowledgment to Mr. Elmer and Lorraine Washington, for their support and love, along with all others who loved Mr. Goddard. Services for Mr. William Goddard will be conducted Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 1 pm from the Chapel of Love at Birchette Mortuary and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until the hour of service. Pastor Alan Evans will be officiating.
