Ms. Bettye Robinson

Bettye Jayne Akins Robinson, 89, born July 26, 1935, to Daniel Akins Sr. and Goldie Briscoe Akins, passed away May 1, 2025, at her residence. Living in and traveling to many places, making friends along the way, made her beloved to many. A graduate of Langston High School, Bettye always enjoyed reminiscing about those days, especially her time in the band and as captain of the basketball team. Baptized in 1970 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she enjoyed talking to others about her faith and always tried to keep her service to Jehovah God first. In addition to her parents, Bettye is preceded in death by siblings Frank, Frankie, Robert "Bobby," Albert "Billy," Mary Ann, James Henry, Dan Jr., John, Brenda, and beloved cousin Mabel Louise Relford, as well as her brothers-in-law, James Greenlee (Mary Ann), Henry Posey (Nancy), James "Sonny" Charles, and dear friends Mary Newton, Faye Willis, and Fayette Bell. Bettye is survived by her devoted children, Greg Robinson and Paulette Robinson; brother, Terry Akins (May); sisters, Janice Wells (Harlan), Nancy Posey, and Shirley Lyons; grandchildren, Shantavian Colston, Janna Chapman, Joshua Bennett, Greg Bennett; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. To mourn her, she also leaves her daughters-in-love, Pamela Burrell and Olivia Epps; sisters of her heart, Rosetta Vinson, Elizabeth Freeman, and Carolyn Davis; and special friends, Gwen Evans, Celestina Pierce, and Stephen Kourtis. The family would also like to thank Ballad Health Palliative Care and Hospice Care for their kindness and care, especially Beth (physical therapy) and Travis (occupational therapy). We will miss the Zoom meeting "darlings" as well as the "love you" at the end of every phone call and visit. Bettye hopes to see all her loved ones again here, on a paradise earth that the Bible promises in Psalms 37:29 and confirms at Isaiah 55:11. A memorial service for Ms. Bettye Robinson will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 3 pm from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Johnson City. There will be Zoom access.
