Ms. Paula Lee Colston Cavin

It is with heavy hearts that we must say goodbye to our beloved family member, Paula Lee Colston Cavin. Our dear daughter, niece, mother, and grandmother left us Monday evening, October 21, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. Paula was a native of Johnson City, Tennessee. She was born May 5, 1967, at Johnson City Medical Center and the day she entered the world brought our family so much happiness. Paula attended North Side Elementary School and graduated from Science Hill High School. She went on to meet, make friends, and discover the world around her with so much curiosity and amazement. Thank you to Paula's friends and acquaintances for your friendship and for accepting her just the way she was. We know that Paula was just Paula, all the time. We're sure if you knew her, your lives were not boring. She never met a stranger, and she loved her friends, her soaps, and her "women's channel" on TV. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for what they do every day. Thank you so much for the patience and care given to Paula during her stays at the Medical Center and Lakeridge. Our family is so grateful to God for the years He gave us with Paula to love and cherish her. We thank Him for staying with her, as He does with all of us. He gave Paula His strength, held her up, and carried her through her trials. He helped her to grow stronger and be brave through all that had to be faced. She has been bossy, loud, opinionated, and funny, but also loving, gentle, a fierce fighter, and courageous. We wouldn't have expected any less from her. After all, she's Paula all the time, and we love her with all our hearts. In Heaven, Paula will be joining for a "Grand Reunion," her grandmother, Mrs. Martha L. Jordan; great-grandmother, Mrs. Sue Hollis; uncles, Mr. Eldean Colston, Mr. Micheal Jordan, and Mr. James R. "Uncle June" Carroll; and friends she has missed for a long time. To cherish her memory, Paula leaves behind her mother, Susie M. Colston of Johnson City; son, James "Nugget" (Nikki) Colston; grandchildren, Ja'Niya Colston, Jaleah Colston, Jayda Colston, Christian Colston, and Serenity, all of Indiana; uncle, James J. Colston of Chattanooga, TN; aunts, Earlene Colston of Johnson City and Myra (Melvin) Miller of Johnson City; cousins, Shantavian Colston of Knoxville, TN, Jameson Colston of Chattanooga, TN; and Deqwain Miller of Johnson City; and many more loved ones too numerous to name. The Colston family would like to thank the friends who took the time to give words of comfort, prayers, and support over the past few months. Thank you so much for your many kindnesses; it has meant the world to us.
