Mr. Reno M. Kidd

Reno Manetilla Kidd was born on June 10, 1959, and took his rest on February 11, 2022. Reno was born to the late William Kidd and Grace Hampton Dean in Jonesville, North Carolina. At a young age, Reno relocated to Johnson City, Tennessee, with his mother and siblings, then shortly after moved to Jonesborough, where he attended David Crocket High School. He later transferred to Science Hill High School, where he graduated. Reno was often seen around Johnson City pushing his lawnmower or mowing someone's lawn; he was a bagger at Whites Grocery Store and cleaned Mooney's Pharmacy and the Cash Advance next door. He also worked for Dawn of Hope, cleaning offices for several years. Reno believed in working and was a hard worker. Reno loved to laugh and enjoyed being around people. If Reno knew that you could cook, he would ask for a Meatloaf; he loved "MEATLOAF." He loved to talk about sports and that the Cowboys were his favorite team. After moving to Jonesborough, Reno attended Bethel Christian Church but later relocated with his family to Grace Temple Church in Johnson City. Reno was known for his favorite song and loved to sing "YES JESUS LOVES ME." Reno united with his high school friend, Alan Evans, and his wife Doll after they returned to the area following retirement from the Army. They opened the doors to Faith Miracle Sanctuary Christian Worship Center, where Reno served for ten years faithfully until his passing. Reno is preceded in death by his parents, William Kidd and Grace Hampton Dean; grandparents, Marshall and Gertrude Hampton; step-father, Hugh Dean; and godmother, Julia Mae Cousin. Survivors include his sisters, Madelene (Larry) McClintock (Kingsport) and Janice Itaro (Johnson City); brother, Kerry Kidd (Chattanooga, TN); sister-in-law, Shelly Thornton Kidd; niece, Lakeisha Kidd (Oxford, NC); nephews, Michael T. Kidd (Johnson City), Phillip T. Kidd (Johnson City), and William "Travis" Kidd (Atlanta, GA); aunt, Betty Hampton (Wilkesboro, NC); uncle, JW Hampton (Knoxville, TN); great-aunt, RV Hague (Jonesville, NC); and close friend, Ranell Gardner (Johnson City).
