Shaneka Vontosha Johnson

Shaneka Vontosha Johnson (Robinson) age 43, of Johnson City passed away Saturday September 15, 2018 at Franklin Woods Hospital following extended health complications. Shaneka was born in Concord North Carolina but lived most of her life in Johnson City except for the 14 years spent with her husband and children in Atlanta Ga. Shaneka was a graduate of Science Hill High school in 1993 and received her nursing license in1998 from Tennessee Technology Center. Throughout her 24 year nursing career, she was a servant leader and cared for countless patients in many roles including her latest role as a 15 year MDS Coordinator (uses the MDS (minimum data set) to assess residents' functional capabilities). For 3 consecutive years, from 2011 to 2013, Shaneka’s performance resulted in her having the #1 MDS averages and percentages in the state of Georgia, which lead to her training MDS Coordinators throughout the state. Although Shaneka was an outstanding nurse that would care for others, even while enduring pain herself, she would tell you that her proudest achievement was being a mother. She was currently enrolled in a bridge program at Northeast State pursuing a Master’s degree in Nursing. Shaneka was preceded in death by a son Jeriah A. Johnson on March 9th, 2013 and a very special grandmother Dorothy McMillian in 1993. Shaneka is survived by her husband Allen (Bunky) L Johnson Jr. her children Ja’Tavian, Jamauri and Journee Johnson, her mother and father Vanessa McMillian – Robinson and Otis D. Robinson. Her siblings, Keia (Telly) Allen, C. Kyren McClaine, Tamara Robinson, Darwin Robinson, Tunishia Robinson, Darrin (Lavonda) Robinson, Trenton (Laura) Robinson, Chris (Amelia) Collins, Natreon Jordan, God Daughter T’onna Livingston. She is also survived by the Rice, Robinson and Maxwell families in Kannapolis N.C.; The McMillian and Brown families of Johnson City, Tennessee; The Calloway, Johnson, and Macon families in Atlanta, Georgia. The Boyd family in Cleveland, Ohio. On behalf of our entire family, we would like to thank you for celebrating the life of Shaneka Vontosha Johnson (Robinson); our wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, niece, and nurturer. A Special thank you to the staff and Doctors of Franklin Woods Hospital 2nd floor and the ICU. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday September 21st at Th Birchette Mortuary Chapel in Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the Chapel prior to the service. Interment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens. *******Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Funeral services for Shaneka Johnson have been moved to the Birchette Mortuary Chapel.
