Mr. William R. Adams

With heavy hearts, we announce that William Rodney Adams, affectionately known as “Hot Rod” and “Big Red,” departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his mother’s residence in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was born on September 2, 1967, in Kingsport, Tennessee. William was a proud graduate of Science Hill High School and went on to receive his associate degree from Northeast State Community College. Always striving to grow and better himself, he recently attended East Tennessee State University, where he was pursuing studies in Business Management. Throughout his life, he worked in several roles, including serving as a TSSAA official, a ride-share driver, and a dedicated food service specialist. He was also a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual strength. William truly lived life in a way that inspired everyone around him. He loved watching sports, spending peaceful days fishing, and relaxing with a good movie. He was best known for his infectious sense of humor, uplifting spirit, and the way he could light up any room he entered. His laughter was contagious, his positivity was powerful, and his outlook on life was an example to all who knew him. William had a remarkable gift for making people feel valued, encouraged, and at ease. He didn’t just live life — he embraced it fully and touched countless hearts along the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Adams; his paternal grandparents, William and Katherine Adams; and his maternal grandparents, Artemis and Rosa Foster. William leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved children, Rashad, Keyshaun, and Gavin; his cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Adams; his loving mother, Sharon Adams; and his devoted siblings, Norma Faye Heatherly, Aundrea Adams, and Aimee Adams. He also leaves behind his nephew, Skylar Adams; his honorary brother, John Birchette; his dear aunts, Jeanie Lee, Thelma Williams, and Barbara Adams; and his uncles, Paul Adams, Charles Adams, Wayne Foster, and Ruben Lewis Adams, along with a host of extended family members, friends, and all whose lives he touched. William’s laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of joy, strength, and positivity will continue to live on through everyone he inspired. Preparations are being made for a Celebration of Life to be held on March 21st. Additional details will be shared once arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local kidney foundation in his honor.
