Mr. William Paul Batman Jr.

William Paul Batman Jr., affectionately known as “Popi” or simply “Batman” was born on May 3, 1949, in Morristown, New Jersey. He attended Morristown High School and studied at Coffeyville Community College. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart Thelma Ann Osborne. They later divorced and he moved to Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970s. There he studied at Wayne County Community College but most of his time was spent with his family, mainly his aunts, uncles, and cousins. During his time in Detroit, he was introduced to Rita Brown Boswell whom he later married on October 13, 1983. They moved away from the city and ultimately settled in Johnson City, TN. Popi loved to watch all sports but his favorite team to watch was the New York Giants. He loved to dress up in the most dapper attire and always made sure he smelled as good as he looked. He loved to be around his family and friends, and his infectious spirit was known to light up a room. Batman gained a new set of wings on April 10, 2023. William was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul Batman, Sr., and Madeline Jackson; stepfather, Henry J. Jackson Jr.; bonus mom, Mamie Page Batman; sister, Paulette W. Jackson; aunts Myrtle (John) Perry, Odessa Yett, and Blanche (Milton) Smiley; uncles Samuel Yett, Clayton Yett, and Johnson Yett; and cousin, Dorothy Jean Butts. All of whom played a significant role in his upbringing, and he loved them dearly. Popi is survived by his wife, Rita Brown Batman; siblings, Frederick (Lillian) Smith, Sharon (Walter) Baum, and Peggy Page-Brown; aunts, Muriel Yett and Nancy Yett; in-laws, Rosalind Brown, Sherry Gregory, Florentine (Ronald) Todd, and Dwayne Marshall; children, William Paul “Paulie” (Karla) Batman III, Jermane Works, Jamal (Chevel) Batman, and Tiffany (James) Frisco; grandchildren, Kiara Batman, Christopher Rhea, Juliun Price, Abriana Batman, Justice Works, Maia Murray, Jamya Brantley, Jamariay Young, Shila Young, Chevarrie Uddin, and Chayla Uddin; great-grandchildren, Noelani Mae Rhea, Amir Wiggins, and Kennidy Wade; godson, Donavan Maxwell; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
